Hypnosis Consultations for Eating and Weight Management
Searching for "hypnosis for weight loss"?
Then let us start with the truth that few websites will tell you: hypnosis does not melt away pounds, and no one can promise you a number.
What it does change, and this is backed by a French clinical trial run at the AP-HP hospital network, is food impulsivity: the compulsions, the emotional snacking, the sugar cravings that undo all your efforts.
That is the path, more honest and more lasting than dieting, through which your relationship with food and your weight both settle down.
Our hypnotherapists see clients in Paris, Brunoy, Marquette-lez-Lille, Strasbourg, Saverne, Voiron, Montpellier, Saint-Gilles, or by video anywhere in France.
Why turn to hypnosis for eating behaviour?
Why your next diet will fail like the last one
This is not pessimism, it is mechanics: restriction triggers an obsession with what is forbidden and sets up the break; the break triggers guilt; and guilt is the most powerful trigger of compulsion there is… You eat to console yourself for having eaten too much!
Add the metabolic rebound effect, and you get the cycle you already know: every diet leaves you with a few more pounds and a little less confidence than the one before.
Hypnosis support steps out of that cycle from above: no menus, no forbidden foods, no weigh-ins. We work where eating behaviour is actually decided: in the habits and the emotions.
To understand these mechanisms in detail (physical hunger vs emotional hunger, compulsions, sugar), read our full guide: the Eating & Weight guide on solutionshypnose.com.
What French research shows: the AP-HP study
A rare thing in a field saturated with promises: a rigorous randomised clinical trial, run by a team at Bichat hospital (AP-HP / Université Paris Cité), showed that a programme of Ericksonian hypnosis and self-hypnosis added to dietary support significantly reduces eating impulsivity and disinhibition — exactly the mechanisms that make nutritional advice fail on its own (AP-HP press release).
The researchers say it themselves: direct weight loss remains modest at this stage, and spectacular promises are to be avoided. That is precisely where we stand: serious, complementary, no miracles.
Hypnosis for Eating and Weight Management
How the support works
The work always starts with an in-depth conversation: your history with food and with diets, your triggers, your dominant emotions, your medical context. Expect three to six sessions in general, two to three weeks apart to let the changes settle in…
Eating behaviour is retrained in real life, between sessions, largely through the self-hypnosis you will learn. Sessions work just as well in person as by video.
Our support: three to six sessions on behaviour
In practice, we work on:
- Your habits: the cupboard on the way back from work, snacking in front of a screen, something sweet after dinner…
- Your emotions, so that work stress, tiredness and boredom get answers other than food (stress snacking is one of the most common reasons people book with us).
- Your fullness signal: hearing "just enough" again, savouring small satisfying amounts.
- The image you have of yourself.
You leave with self-hypnosis tools to anchor the changes between sessions and afterwards.
Hypnosis also combines very well with care from a dietitian or a nutrition physician: the plate is theirs, the behaviour is ours.
And if a medical pathway for obesity (or even bariatric surgery) is planned or under way, hypnosis can support it, never replace it.
When to see a doctor first
See a doctor first, and make hypnosis a complement (never a substitute), in the following situations:
- eating disorders, confirmed or suspected (anorexia, bulimia, binge eating disorder), which call for specialised and often multidisciplinary care;
- obesity, particularly if a medical or surgical pathway is being considered;
- diabetes or any metabolic condition;
- rapid, unexplained weight gain or loss, which needs medical investigation;
- pregnancy.
We will ask you these questions at the first conversation, to be sure we are the right resource for you.
What our clients say
« I really enjoyed my three hypnosis sessions for weight loss. With the sessions, and thanks to Annie's valuable advice, I managed to overcome my everyday stress and lose weight. I'm living a more fulfilling life and I've learned to let go. I'm very grateful and I recommend her without hesitation! Thank you for everything! 😁 »
Lyna, client of Annie Mayrand
« Great results with my eating habits. I feel like I salivate more, I put my spoon down and chew slowly, my taste buds are discovering new flavors. I eat the same amount of food but I don't feel any pressure in my digestive system. »
Catherine, client of Sabine Chapuis
« For my first session, it went really well. She took the time to explain hypnosis to me properly, to understand why I binge eat, and to help me find realistic, positive goals. With her attentiveness, empathy, and compassion, I felt comfortable the whole session. »
Annick, client of Annie Mayrand

Frequently asked questions about Hypnosis and Eating
Yes on eating behaviour, no as a direct weight-loss method.
Clinical research, including the French AP-HP study, shows a real reduction in impulsivity and compulsions; any weight loss that follows is gradual and varies from person to person.
Any offer promising you a precise number of pounds is not credible.
Not by France's public health insurance: hypnotherapy in private practice is not a covered medical act. Many private plans do reimburse several sessions a year through their complementary-therapies allowance. Check your policy before the first session; we provide an invoice.
Worth noting: consultations with a nutrition physician are covered within the standard care pathway.
Usually three to six, two to three weeks apart: behaviour gets retrained between sessions, in real life, largely through the self-hypnosis we teach you. Our Weight Management format can run longer with some Solutions Hypnose practitioners to allow for deeper work from the very first meeting.
Exactly that. Stress snacking at work and the sweet reward at the end of the day are our two most common reasons people book. These are not weaknesses but emotional habits: food decompresses in your place. The work consists of handing that role to other resources — and then the reflex comes undone.
No, and we would actually advise against it: restriction feeds the exact break-then-guilt cycle we are trying to interrupt. If a specific eating plan is useful in your situation (diabetes, obesity, another condition), that is the job of a dietitian or a nutrition physician, and hypnosis combines very well with them.
Then the first step is medical. These conditions call for specialised, often multidisciplinary care: talk to your GP. Hypnosis can then support certain aspects (stress, self-image), in agreement with your care team. A serious practitioner will ask you the question at the first conversation and point you elsewhere if needed.
Hypnotherapy is complementary support and does not replace medical advice, a diagnosis or treatment. In the case of an eating disorder, a metabolic condition or pregnancy, see a doctor first.
