Hypnosis consultations to Quit Smoking
You have already quit once, maybe twice, and it held until that party, that wave of stress, that "just one".
Our hypnotherapists support people quitting tobacco and vaping anywhere in France, in person in Paris, Lille, Strasbourg, Montpellier, Voiron, and by video everywhere.
No promise of a miracle in a single session: personalised support that goes after what actually causes relapse, your automatic habits.
Why is quitting smoking so hard?
It is not nicotine that makes you relapse at six months
Physical nicotine withdrawal is intense but short: a few weeks at most.
What brings the cigarette back months later is the other dependency: the morning coffee and cigarette, the break at work, the drink with friends, stress, boredom behind the wheel…
Automatic habits woven over years, which willpower alone cannot hold off indefinitely. Hypnosis works at exactly that level: it uncouples situations from the cigarette and replaces what smoking gave you, instead of leaving a gap.
And the cigarette does you favours
It helps with stress, it grants legitimate breaks, it gives you something to do with yourself socially, it marks the end of the working day, it keeps you company when you are alone…
Wanting to remove it without planning anything in its place means asking a part of you to give up its solutions: it resists, logically enough.
That is also why some "successful" quits are paid for with a substitute: snacking, irritability, another replacement habit.

How Hypnosis helps you Quit Smoking
Hypnosis works exactly where willpower runs out: at the level of automatic habits
The hypnotic state is a natural state of focused attention in which unconscious learning becomes accessible and open to change.
In practice, the work acts on three fronts:
- Undoing the automatic habits. Each trigger (coffee, break, car, stress) is identified and then "uncoupled" from the cigarette: the brain learns that the situation can exist without the gesture. It is the same learning mechanism that installed the habit, used in reverse.
- Renegotiating what the cigarette provided. Rather than creating a gap, hypnotic work replaces what tobacco did for you with healthier resources: other ways to take a real break, to handle a wave of stress, to hold yourself socially. That is the key to avoiding substitutes — food in particular.
- Picturing yourself as a non-smoker. Many long-term smokers no longer know who they would be without cigarettes: quitting feels like a leap into the unknown, even like losing part of their identity. Hypnosis lets you live, in advance and in sensory detail, the life of the person you are becoming: breath regained, pride, freedom. A brain that has already "visited" that future goes there far more willingly.
Support tailored to your profile
Be wary of "95% success in one session": no one can seriously guarantee that.
Our recommendation, based on the team's experience: one main quit session, then one or two reinforcement sessions that consolidate the change and lock in relapse prevention — months two and three are where it is decided.
Depending on your profile, your practitioner will use direct suggestion, aversion techniques, metaphor or visualisation.
From the first session, the work also anticipates the two classic traps of quitting: food as a substitute (quitting without gaining weight is prepared for, it is not a lottery) and switching to the e-cigarette, which often replaces one dependency with another. We also support quitting vaping and cannabis.
Mois sans tabac, nicotine replacement, smoking-cessation specialists: hypnosis alongside them
Hypnosis does not compete with the French care pathway, it adds to it.
You can combine it with nicotine replacement (ask your doctor or pharmacist, some are reimbursed on prescription), with smoking-cessation follow-up, or with the collective momentum of Mois sans tabac, France's national quit-smoking month in November.
For heavy smokers, pairing replacement therapy (chemical dependency) with hypnosis (behavioural dependency) is often the most solid strategy.

Frequently asked questions about Hypnosis to Quit Smoking
Not by France's public health insurance: hypnotherapy in private practice is not a covered medical act.
Many private plans, however, offer an annual complementary-therapies allowance covering several sessions. Check your policy before the first session. We provide an invoice to pass on to your insurer.
Worth noting: some prescribed nicotine replacement products are reimbursed by public health insurance.
We recommend planning two to three: the quit, then the reinforcement.
Some smokers stop after the first session, but it is the consolidation that makes the difference between quitting for six weeks and quitting for good. You only commit after a conversation with your practitioner, to check that your motivation is ready: that is condition number one.
The two do not address the same dependency, and they combine very well.
Nicotine replacement handles the physical withdrawal; hypnosis deals with the automatic habits and the hidden benefits of the cigarette, which is what causes relapse at three months.
For a strong dependency, combining both with your doctor's agreement is often the best strategy.
Excellent idea. The collective momentum of November is a real motivational lever, and hypnosis multiplies its effect by working on what a collective challenge does not touch: your personal triggers. Do book your first appointment with us as early as October — it is our busiest period.
Yes, but it often takes longer. Many vapers come to us after replacing tobacco with vaping… without regaining their freedom: the gesture is permanent, and the nicotine consumed is sometimes higher than before.
The work is the same: uncouple the automatic habits, replace what the gesture provides, with particular attention to how continuous vaping is.
More than ever. A past attempt is not a failure, it is a resource: it proves you know how to quit, and it shows us exactly where the thread snapped. Most permanent ex-smokers went through several attempts; the support is there precisely to make this one the last.
Hypnotherapy is complementary support and does not replace medical advice, a diagnosis or treatment.
